Thill is among the Tells featured here, who – as far as I know – never sang the role on stage.
He impresses (as always) with noble phrasing and excellent diction, but he lacks most other things a solid Tell requires: the strength in the upper register, full and ringing top notes (his is rather short actually) and most of all vocal stamina. Especially in roles which are beyond his reach – as Tell is – you can hear considerable uncertainties in the passaggio area. Thill sings with elegance and taste, but without digging into the character and the music. Well sung (though transposed I suppose), but without much meaning.
A quando il Tell di Filippeschi? 😀 sopratutto quello del ’54 😀

Arriva, arriva… Arnold ci terrà compagnia sino alla fine di agosto, quindi c’è tempo 😉
Non capisco, in che senso “transposed”? è in mi bem. magg. come da copione. Comunque complimenti, questa rassegna arnoldesca è interessantissima.
